Description

Founded in 1996 to raise funds for the creation of child radiotherapy unit at Middlesex Hospital in London, which was opened in 2000 by Fight for Life patron, Gary Lineker (former British footballer). The aim was to renew radiological equipment to improve the accuracy, speed and image quality.

Thanks to the grant from the Global Gift Foundation, Fight for Life is investing in technological improvements, new medical equipment and the creation of recreational areas to improve the quality of life of children in the area of ​​child radiotherapy UCLH Hospital (University College Hospital) in London. It is a leader in treatments for childhood cancer and is attended by all children in need of radiotherapy at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

  • It also commissioned an Art TrueBeam System, which improves the conditions of radiation, being faster, more powerful and non-invasive. Designed for the treatment of cancer patients with high precision to locate the radiation only in the affected area.
  • They replaced toys and interactive electronics and projectors to allow children watch videos of their choice during the treatment.
  • They created a new playroom for children and families. Eva Longoria made a site visit on December 9, 2012 to see first-hand the new equipment and see where children perform radiation therapy sessions while families can spend time with children.
